Rwandan Diaspora

Rwandan Community in Ethiopia & Djibouti

About our Diaspora

The Rwandan Community in Ethiopia comprises of Rwandan professionals and student living in Ethiopia including working professionals, students and dependents. Each year, the Community endeavors to make its modest contribution towards Rwanda's transformational journey.

Together with the Rwandan Community living in Djibouti, the Community has been extending their modest support towards Government’s programs and initiatives aimed at uplifting our underprivileged citizens from poverty.  In the previous years, the both communities have supported programs such as “mutuelle de santé” and Gira inka”.

This year, 2020, the Rwandan Community in Ethiopia, as a direct response to the challenge extended to the Rwandan Communities Abroad by the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, made a contribution of US$11,900 to support the #Connect Rwanda Initiative to provide 111 underprivileged families with made in Rwanda Mara phones to enable them access Government Services using internet from the comfort of their homes.

The contribution has already been deposited to the Connect Rwanda dollar account and we expect the identified beneficiaries to receive their made in Rwanda Mara smart phones soon.

Indeed, together we can connect the unconnected to ensure an inclusive digital economy in Rwanda that will contribute towards realizing our Vision 2050 to become a high-income country.
